Boat: 2006 Sea Ray 380 Sundancer (380DA)
Swim Platform Size: 36″ deep x 129″ wide
Dinghy: Initially a Zodiac tiller-steer, then upgraded to larger/heavier Walker Bay center console dinghy
The 2006 380 Sundancer is a challenging boat to add davits to because of the center transom door that opens outward (interfering with the dinghy). Thus, our davit extensions are absolutely required for this Sea Ray 380DA install (if you want to use the transom door). With our davit extensions, there is enough room to open the transom door enough to comfortably walk through, preventing the need for a much more expensive davit option. The photos above show how far the transom door will open when the dinghy is perfectly perpendicular to the boat. The dinghy can be safely tied down in a slightly rotated orientation increasing the door opening even more.
The CAD image above shows the installation location for the davit extensions. We’d recommend installing the davits in this location for the optimal results.
There is a raised lip around the perimeter of this swim platform, so you would need our mounting plate shims for this installation. The thinner shim option would suffice for this raised edge.
